Young public security officers train in AI

The Youth Union chapter of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), in coordination with Youth Union chapters of other MPS-affiliated units and the National Cybersecurity Association (NCA), launched a training workshop on artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications for officers, enlistees and Youth Union members, on the afternoon of June 12 in Hanoi.

The workshop was part of the ongoing program initiated by young public security officers of MPS-affiliated units to implement the Party and State’s policies on the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, as well as to respond to the “Digital Literacy” emulation movement within the Public Security Forces.

Chief of the MPS Office Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan attended and delivered a keynote speech at the event.

Speaking at the event, Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan affirmed that in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, AI has made rapid and transformative advancements and become an integral part of all aspects of life.

He stressed that developing and applying AI to operations of the Public Security Forces is an irreversible trend as it can help the forces improve their working efficiency, minimizing errors and enhancing the quality of efforts to safeguard national security and maintain social order and safety in the new context.

The MPS Office’s Chief underscored that the Public Security Forces should grasp the strategic significance of AI application at work to avoid lagging behind global trends, saying that all officers and enlistees should proactively equip themselves with the necessary knowledge to effectively apply AI at work to improve the efficiency and quality of their task performances.

During the workshop, NCA’s lecturers briefed the participants on the history, evolution and operational knowhow of AI, provided instructions on the application of AI in certain aspects of work, as well as pointed out some risks when using AI, and introduced essential skills to ensure cybersecurity and safety during performing assigned tasks.

The workshop helped officers, enlistees and Youth Union members gain a comprehensive understanding of AI and its applications useful to their work. It also contributed to change public security officers’ mindset on IA and the application of AI at work so as to achieve the most work efficiency and raise the quality of their task fulfillment.
