Government’s Program on Protecting and Supporting Children in the Digital Environment for the 2026–2030 period officially launched

PSNews - The launching ceremony for the Government’s Program on Protecting and Supporting Children in the Digital Environment for the 2026–2030 period, hosted by the Ministry of Public Security, aimed to implement Decision No. 468/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the Program for the 2026–2030 period.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra attended and delivered remarks at the ceremony.

The event also saw the presence of Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, representatives of the Ministry of Health and other ministries and sectors, child protection organizations, including UNICEF and the Vietnam Association for Protection of Child Rights as well as major enterprises and technology platforms such as Meta, TikTok, Google and VNG Corporation.

The event, hosted by the Ministry of Public Security, aimed to implement Decision No. 468/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the Program for the 2026–2030 period.

It also marked a strategic effort to protect the future generation in the digital space, following the positive results of the implementation of Decision No. 830/QD-TTg approving the Program for the 2021–2025 period.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra noted, while cyberspace is essential to children’s education and entertainment, it also introduces various risks that children cannot easily protect themselves against.

She stressed that the Program on Protecting and Supporting Children in the Digital Environment for the 2026–2030 Period demonstrates Vietnam’s commitment to protecting its children so that they can live safely, receive care and support, and enjoy opportunities for comprehensive development in a healthy, humane and happy environment, both in the real world and in cyberspace.

Underscoring that protecting and supporting children in the digital environment is an urgent requirement and a long-term strategic task, the Deputy Prime Minister called on ministries, sectors and local authorities to join efforts from the central level to local communities to thoroughly implement the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws on child protection, care and education during the 2026–2030 period.

She urged relevant authorities to enhance the effectiveness of state management of child protection, further improve institutional and policy frameworks, and implement stronger measures to achieve the Program’s objectives.

She also emphasized the need to raise the public awareness of child protection, strengthen the capacity of specialized forces responsible for children and child protection, promote close inter-agency coordination, and effectively apply information technology and digital transformation solutions to improve child protection efforts.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, every family should serve as a loving, safe and reliable place where children are listened to, understood and supported while every school should equip children with not only knowledge but also digital skills, self-protection abilities and a culture of responsible and civilized behavior in cyberspace.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, leaders of ministries and sectors and students jointly performed the activation ceremony for the Program on Protecting and Supporting Children in the Digital Environment for the 2026–2030 period.
