Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security holds narcotics investigation training for Lao police

The Narcotics Investigation Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam opened a refresher course for key narcotics investigation officers from the General Department of Police under the Ministry of Public Security of Laos, on the morning of August 23 in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province.

The training course, which lasts till August 27, aims to improve narcotics investigation skills and related knowledge for Lao police officers working at narcotics investigation units.

During the course, Vietnamese experts on narcotics investigations will share with the Lao trainees the narcotic trafficking and abuse situation in Vietnam, particularly in areas along the Vietnam-Laos borderline; experience in tracking and arresting fugitive narcotics criminals; list of Vietnamese wanted for narcotic crime hiding in Laos and list of Lao criminals in Vietnam; tactics of fighting illicit synthetic drug production and controlling legal drug production; Vietnamese police’s experience in reconnaissance and investigation of drug trafficking cases involving Lao citizens; instructions on searching and arresting drug addicts trafficking illicit drugs. 

During the training program, representatives of the Quang Binh Provincial Police Department also brief the participants on the drugs trafficking situation in the province, local police’s effort to fight illicit drugs trafficking.

The training course is part of the plan of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to realize the Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides, contributing to strengthening the bilateral cooperation in illicit drug prevention and control.
