Vietnamese police peacekeepers celebrate Lunar New Year at the UN Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan

As the Vietnamese Traditional Lunar New Year of 2024 (Tet) is coming, the group of Vietnamese police peacekeepers organized the event "Vietnam Tet" at the UN peacekeeping base in Juba, South Sudan, on February 3, 2024.

The event drew the participation of leaders of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), international colleagues and friends, who also enthusiastically joined with the Vietnamese police officers in various activities and games.

International colleagues and friends experienced some Vietnamese folk games and learned more about good Vietnamese traditional activities the Vietnamese practice during the Vietnamese Traditional Lunar New Year, such as Tet foods, Ao Dai costume, five-fruit tray, lucky money.

Specially, international friends could enjoy traditional Vietnamese Tet dishes.

Earlier, the police officers had had to spend much time and effort in decorated the Vietnamese Tet space, preparing for traditional activities and games, cooking typical Tet dishes such as fried spring rolls, five-fruit tray, five-color sticky rice, sticky rice square cake (banh chung) and so on.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Christine Fossen, Commander of the Police Force at the UNMISS Mission, congratulated the successes of Vietnamese police officers, including Dinh Manh Cuong who has just been accepted for the position of Commander of the UN Security Police Department in Torit (East Equatorial State).

Ms. Christine Fossen also appreciated the organization of Tet, spreading Vietnam's fine cultural traditions at the Mission, saying that it created a great opportunity for international  friends to exchange and strengthen solidarity.
