This year's meeting focused mainly on competing the national anti-terrorism system in Russia, which includes the amendment of law, and promoting the effectiveness of the anti-terrorist system.

In addition, participating delegates reviewed, shared their counter-terrorism experiences and discussed orientations to ensure security for major international activities.

Delivering the opening speech, Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB), Chairman of the Russian National Anti-Terrorism Commission Aleksander Bortnkov stated, the Islamic State (IS) has failed in creating the so called Caliphate in Syria and Iraq.

That result led to a new issue that leaders of IS and other international terrorist groups tend to join forces to build a new international terrorist network.

In order to successfully deal with this threat, it is necessary to unite efforts of all countries around the world, especially when terrorist forces use information technology as a special tool.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son made an important statement. He highly appreciated the meeting's theme and considered it an appropriate choice in this current situation.

He also emphasized that terrorist operation has become more complicated, which, together with the rapid development of science-technology, information technology and the Internet, has caused serious consequences to many nations and territories.

"Vietnam has encouraged the involvement of the entire people in the combat against terrorism, while building a legal framework, enhance measures to detect and prevent terrorism and extremist activities. Vietnam always stays side-by-side with other countries and international organisations in this fierce fight", Son said

To increase the efficiency of the anti-terrorism operation, the Vietnamese official suggested that countries should intensify cooperation between special services and law enforcement agencies to control and prevent funds and websites related to terrorism, and work with other countries in investigating terrorism cases.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son met with security leaders of several participating countries to exchange regional security issues and promote bilateral relations.
