The Myanmar delegation is led by Brigadier General Myint Aung, General Secretary of the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control and Director of the Department on Drug Control of Myanmar.

Since the signing of the agreement on cooperation in drug control in 1995, Vietnam and Myanmar have organized 3 conferences at the Central Committee level. After 19 years of interruption, the two sides have resumed the 4th conference, which demonstrates  the strong resolve of the two countries for cooperation in drug combat.

Given the increasing complexity in the regional and global drug situations, the conference is an important forum for functional forces of the two sides to further strengthen cooperation in fighting drug-related crimes.

At the meeting, the two sides are expected to brief each other on drug prevention and control in 2017 and seek orientations for cooperation in 2018.

Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Dong Dai Loc appreciated the close and effective cooperation between the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control of Myanmar and the MPS of Vietnam at various international fora and especially the coordination in preparation for the conference.

Mr. Myint Augn expressed his gratitude for the kind reception of the MPS of Vietnam. He emphasized that Myanmar has made special efforts to gradually curb drug-related crimes. He also hoped that the two countries would continue to exchange information and experience and discuss measures to promote bilateral cooperation in drug prevention and fighting.
