Vietnam and Japan boost cooperation in Fire Prevention and Rescue

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security held a meeting on December 5th, in Hanoi with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to review the implementation of cooperation projects on fire prevention and rescue between the two sides.

Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security chaired the meeting. The meeting saw the participation of departments, offices, sub-departments and other relevant units under the Public Security Ministry. 

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Public Security Ministry, Deputy Minister Bui Van Thanh stated, the "Investing in facilities, infrastructure and improving capacities of Fire Fighting and Rescue forces" project is the first cooperation activity between Japan and Vietnam in training and improving capacities for Vietnamese Fire Fighting and Rescue force.

Therefore, the success of the project will contribute to building professional Fire Fighting forces and to improving the efficiency of the forces’ performances of their fire prevention and rescue tasks.

Deputy Minister Bui Van Thanh acknowledged some emerging issues and difficulties, but asking JICA to report them in writing so as to solve them as soon as possible. 

The project, which has been funded by the Japanese Government in preferential loans, includes many important items, profoundly impacting sustainable development of Vietnam’s Fire Fighting and Rescue forces. Developing this project is necessary and in accordance with the guidance of the Secretariat of the Central Party Committee. 

At the meeting, Deputy Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Yamamoto Kenichi briefed the results of their surveys in Vietnam. The two sides also canvassed a number of proposals to realize the cooperation project on firefighting and rescue more effectively.
