Subcommittee for Security and Health of ASEAN 2020 convenes fourth meeting

The Subcommittee for Security and Health under the National ASEAN 2020 Committee, on February 24 opened the fourth meeting in Da Nang to review its task performance as of the 3rd meeting and roll out a new working plan for the 36th ASEAN Summit.

Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Subcommittee, chaired the meeting. 

The event also saw the presence of representatives from relevant ministries and agencies as well as the Da Nang Municipal People’s Committee and various public security units under the Ministry of Public Security.

At the meeting, members of the subcommittee reviewed results of their task performances over the past time and discussed their advantages and difficulties while implementing their assigned tasks.

Against the backdrop of complicated developments of COVID-19, the subcommittee sent official dispatches to the National 2020 ASEAN Committee’s Secretariat and other subcommittees as well as relevant ministries, agencies and local authorities to strengthen disease prevention and control.

To conclude the meeting, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam recognized and praised the efforts of all members of the subcommittee over the past time.

He also urged all relevant units under the Ministry of Public Security to pay due attention to protecting absolute security and safety for delegates and international guests for a successful organization of activities in Vietnam’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2020.

* On the same day, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam visited and worked with the Military Region 5 Command under the Ministry of National Defense.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam spoke highly of the achievements gained by the local armed forces over the past time.

The Deputy Minister of Public Security hoped that the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense and the Military Region 5 Command will continue their coordination and cooperation with the Public Security Forces in maintaining security and safety for the upcoming 2020 ASEAN Summit in Da Nang.
