Several Northern provinces flooded

PSNews – The authorities of Hoa Binh province have declared state of emergency as soon as the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant has opened 8 floodgates to ease the water pressure of the hydropower reservoir. Meanwhile, many places in Yen Bai have been gulfed by flooding water, and thousands of households in Thanh Hoa have fled from flooding.

In Hoa Binh province: Many places drowned under water, state of emergency declared

Major Bui Duc Huyen, Head of the Luong Son District Police said, heavy rains in recent days have drowned many places in Luong Son town and the district police has mobilized all of its officers and soldiers to assist and rescue local people and coordinate with relevant forces to maintain traffic safety and order.

On October 10 and 11, the police force of the district in collaboration with the Armed Police School saved 36 people from being swept away by flood water, evacuated 700 people to safe places from dangerous areas in communes of Nhuan Trach, Tan Vinh and Luong Son town.

According to recent statistics, heavy rains and floods have killed 10 people, injured 4 and left 4 other missing, destroyed thousands of hectares of rice crops and ruined hundreds of fish ponds and cages, and swept away thousands of poultries.

Due to accumulated continuous huge inflow, on October 11, the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant decided to open 8 floodgates, which directly affected life of the people living in lower parts of the Da River.

The Hoa Binh Police keeps deploying 100% of its force in order to respond to possible bad situations, and ensure security, order and traffic safety throughout the province.

Yen Bai: Many areas flooded

At about 12 am of October 11, one support and two spans of Ngoi Thia bridge, Nghia Lo town collapsed due to violent floods. A number of people were swept away, including a reporter of VNA.

By 2 pm of October 11, floods in Yen Bai had killed 3, injured 7, and  left10 other missing.

Heavy rains and floods have affected 739 houses, including 30 ones completely collapsed; 153 households had to move away and 533 houses have been drowned.

In Yen Bai city, water from the Hong river drowned several streets. The Yen Bai Municipal Police Department directed various units to implement various measures to respond to the flooding.

Thanh Hoa province: thousands of households evacuated and saved from flooding

The districts of Nong Cong and Tinh Gia have been the most severely affected by heavy rains and floods in Thanh Hoa.

In this situation, the police offices of the two mentioned districts deployed all forces and means to rescue people in isolated areas.

On October 10 and 11, police forces of Nong Cong and Tinh Gia evacuated nearly 200 people, including many women, children and elderly to safer places.

According to reports of the provincial Standing Office for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Rescue of Nghe An, by 4 pm of October 11, various areas in the province had large showers with rainfalls of150-350 mm, making the Ca river overflow.

As of the afternoon of October 11, 8 people were reportedly killed or missing due to the flooding in Nghe An.
