Public security women in the fight against COVID-19

PSNews - In the face of the fourth COVID-19 outbreak that seriously affected people's health and all aspects of social life, the women’s associations in the People's Public Security Forces have actively participated in COVID-19 prevention and control.

Hundreds of female medical workers from public security hospitals, voluntarily joined the frontline forces to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in COVID hotbeds as such as Bac Giang, Ho Chi Minh City, and southern provinces.

The public security female medical workers have served as brave fighters and silent heroes in the fight against the pandemic as well as provided moral support for COVID patients.

As one of the female public security officers who volunteered to go to work in Long An province – a pandemic hotspot, Lieutenant Colonel Phung Thi Hai Van, level 2 medical specialist, from the Traditional Medicine Hospital under the Ministry of Public Security shared, treating COVID-19 patients is a difficult task, but it is more difficult for public security medical staff to treat COVID patients as prisoners.

"In such a very challenging environment, we put aside our worries and wholeheartedly cured COVID-19 infected inmates; as a result, many of them quickly recovered from the lethal disease," Doctor Hai Van said.

Major Thuy An is another typical public security female doctor. During the two months from May to June 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out and was complicated in Dien Bien province, Major Thuy Anh and her colleagues launched a social program to mobilize organizations, businesses and people to support local people and functional forces on the frontline of the fight against the pandemic.

As a result, 134 million VND in cash and a large amount of medical necessities and supplies with a total value of over 1.1 billion VND were mobilized for people in need.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Thu, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of the Dak Lak provincial police called on all female officers of the provincial police to text 2,000 messages to support 200 million VND for the Vaccine Fund. She also raised 200 million VND to support the frontline forces in the fight against the pandemic.

The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic may last long and there are many difficulties ahead. However, female officers, specially female medical workers, of the People's Public Security Forces promise to themselves to always stay unite, join common effort and work together with other forces and the people of the country to eleminate the COVID-19 pandemic.
