Public Security Forces to actively respond to tides

PSNews- The Permanent office of the Steering Committee for climate change response, disaster prevention and rescue of the Ministry of Public Security issued dispatch No. 19 on November 15th requiring public security forces actively respond to tides.

Dispatch No.19 was sent to  provincial and municipal police commanding boards of climate change response, disaster prevention and rescue and provincial and municipal fire police in Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Soc Trang, Hau Giang, Can Tho, Bac Lieu, An Giang, Ca Mau and Ho Chi Minh City as well as commanding board of climate change response, disaster prevention and rescue under the Police General Department of Criminal Verdict Execution and Judicial Assistance, the High Command of Mobile Police; the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department and the Traffic Police Department.

The dispatch requests the above agencies and units to be active in responding to high tides.

According to the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, the water level in the Mekong River and Saigon River is rising rapidly and will reach the peak on November 16th. The center forecasts the water levels at some main localities as following: Tien River in My Thuan reaches 1.9 m (0.1 m over warning level 3), My Tho reaches 1.7 m (0.1 m over warning level 3), on Hau River in Can Tho reaches 2.0 m (0.1 m over warning level 3), Long Xuyen reaches 2.4 m (0.1 m below warning level 3), on the Saigon river in Phu An reaches 1.65m ( 0,15m over warning level 3); low areas in Ho Chi Minh City are at a high risk of being waterlogged.

To actively respond to possible high tides, the Permanent Office of the Steering Committee for climate change response, disaster prevention and rescue asks municipal and provincial police commands of climate change response, disaster prevention and rescue and municipal and provincial fire police units to: 

Strictly implement dispatch 37 / CD-TW dated 11/14/2016 of the Permanent Office of the Central Steering Committee for disaster prevention, and the Office of the National Committee for Search and Rescue; closely monitor developments of tides from the mass media to actively respond to the situation; and ensure safety for documents, property, facilities and equipment of units. 

Assist people in tackling flooding and water logging; deploy forces, vehicles, warning signs and traffic guiding boards  in flooded areas, especially roads, streets and residential areas which are frequently deep in water; seriously assign efforts and assets on duty, regularly report situations to the Permanent Office of the Steering Committee for climate change response, disaster prevention and rescue of the Ministry of Public Security.
