PSNews visits family of policeman killed on duty

A delegation of the Public Security Newspaper (PSNews), led by Senior Colonel Pham Khai, Editor-in-chief, on September 17 visited the family of Major Sergeant Nguyen Van Manh, a mobile police soldier of the Bac Giang provincial police, who died while performing his duty several days ago.

Senior Colonel Pham Khai paid his respect to the late young policeman and showed his sympathy for his family. Talking with the family, he emphasized that Manh sacrificed his life while fighting against crime, for the peaceful life of the people.

According to the PSNews leader, Manh has showed the police’s will and determination to uncompromisingly fight against crimes. Senior Colonel Pham Khai hoped that Manh’s family would overcome this difficult period of time.

According to the local police’s report to leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Sergeant Nguyen Van Manh, born in 1997, and his comrades were sent on September 14 to a mobile traffic checkpoint at Noi Hoang commune (Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province) on the Hanoi-Bac Giang Highway. He was suddenly hit to death by a pick-up truck while he was trying to stop the truck suspected of carrying smuggled goods.

According to the police of Bac Giang province, all infringing goods on the vehicle include 80 electronic components and mobile phone speakers with a weight of about 1.6 tons. On September 16, the Investigation Police Agency under Bac Giang Provincial Police Department prosecuted the case and the accused against Duong Duc Tuyen (22, resident of Nha Nam, Tan Yen district, Bac Giang – owner of the vehicle), and Tran Van Dung (31, resident of Hong Ky, Soc Son, Hanoi – driver) for murder.

General To Lam, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, on September 16 sent a Letter of Condolences to the family of Major Sergeant Nguyen Van Manh. In the Letter of Condolences, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, Minister To Lam praises the bravery of the young policeman in the fight against crimes, extends condolences and shows his sympathy toward the his family. The Ministry of Public Security donated 50 million VND to support Manh’s family.

The PSN donated 15 million VND and Senior Colonel presented 10 million VND to Manh’s family.
