Police officer praised for bravely saving suicidal man

PSNews – Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Duc of the Da Lat Municipal (Lam Dong Province) Police on May 30 jumped into Xuan Huong Lake to save a drowning man, despite the cold weather. The young police officer received a lot of praise for his brave act.

According to Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Duc, the incident occurred at midnight on May 30 in Xuan Huong Lake (Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province).

While Duc and his friends were walking nearby the lake, he heard people on the lake’s bank calling for help. The police officer approached and saw a drowning man in Xuan Huong Lake.

Despite the cold weather and risks, the young police officer jumped into the water and carried the victim to the shore. As the victim lost his consciousness Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Duc immediately gave first aid to the victim and successfully saved his life.

Needless to say how grateful to Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Duc for his good deed the victim’s mother was when she met her son still alive.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Duc’s bravery was also praised by local people, contributing to  the beautiful image of the people's police force.

Lieutenant Colonel Do Ngoc Hoa, Head of the Ward 1 Police Post, said that the unit had reported the incident to the Da Lat Municipal Police, asking for an appropriate reward to Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Duc.
