Police of Vietnam and Cambodia enhances security and order along shared border

PSNews-The Police Office of Tan Chau district, Tay Ninh province, Vietnam hosted a conference to summarize cooperation between police forces of the Vietnamese provinces of Tay Ninh and Binh Phuoc and Cambodian province of Tboung Khmum in preventing and controlling criminal activities in the 1st Quarter of 2017.

The conference was attended by representatives of the police offices of Tan Chau, Tan Bien districts, Tay Ninh province, and Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc (Vietnam), and the Memot District Police Division, Tboung Khmum province (Cambodia).

In the first quarter of 2017, the cooperation of the police forces of the two sides was maintained regularly. The involved forces exchanged information about situations related to security and order in the areas along the border, well cooperated in thoroughly resolving complicated cases, in preventing trans-border criminal activities; ensured security during the land demarcation process; and coordinated closely in the management of immigration.

In addition, the two sides’ competent border agencies and forces created favorable conditions for people of the two countries to exchange goods and visit their relatives on the other side of the border. Local authorities and social organizations of the two sides conducted visits to each other and social exchanges, particularly on special anniversaries of the two nations, such as the Vietnamese Traditional Tet or Cambodia’s Chol Chnam Thmay Holiday, in order to promote the fine friendship and solidarity.

At the conference, delegates reviewed outcomes of coordination in crime prevention and fight along the shared border in the Q1 of 2017 as well as plans for coordination in the coming time.

In particular, all parties agreed to continue to promote close cooperation and take on measures to fight effectively attempts and activities of hostile forces; coordinate together in settling cases of land encroachment, delineation between people of the two countries with diplomatic and peaceful means; and join hands in preventing and fighting crimes in the border areas of the two sides. In particular, priority should be given to dealing with terrorism, hunt for wanted criminals and armed robbery as well as trafficking of children and illegal migration along the shared border.
