People’s Public Security Political Academy opens 2018-2019 academic year

The People’s Public Security Political Academy on October 31 held a solemn ceremony to open its 2018-2019 academic year with the participation of Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Member of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Minister of Public Security and Mr. Phung Xuan Nha, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training sent flowers of congratulations to the academy.

In his opening remarks, Major General Tran Vi Dan, Director of the People’s Public Security Political Academy briefed the delegates on the school’s achievements in recent times. He said, in 2017-2018 academic year, the academy mobilized its staff as well as scientists in and outside the Public Security Forces to innovate its training programs.

The head of the academy revealed that, in the last academic year, the academy completed a state-level scientific research projects and continued four state-level scientific research projects plus 20 ministerial-level scientific research projects and 30 school-level scientific research projects.

The school also held many seminars, scientific conferences discussing issues relating to combat practices of the Public Security Forces.

For its achievements, the academy was presented with the Emulation Flag by Ministry of Public Security for the four consecutive years.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security praised the great efforts made over the past years by the leaders, staff and cadets of the People’s Public Security Political Academy.

Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam also spoke highly of the academy’s efforts in mobilizing a large number of intellectuals, scientists inside and outside the Public Security Forces to participate in the teaching activities, as well as in building infrastructure and strengthening the unit’s personnel structure in the current context.

In order to successfully fulfill the academy’s tasks for the upcoming year, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam suggested the academy continue to implement the plan of the Ministry of Public Security on the restructuring of the academies and schools of the People’s Public Security Forces in the spirit of the Politburo’s resolution on renovating and streamlining the public security apparatus for more efficiency and effectiveness.

He urged the academy to coordinate with other units of the Ministry of Public Security to consolidate its leadership, draft its functions, missions and organizational structure under the directions of the Politburo and MPS, while striving to become a key training institution for high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Public Security.

He also asked the academy to continue to promote scientific research and innovation on advanced teaching and learning methods and on building of the Public Security Forces in the new context.
