MPS visits Lao Embassy as Bunpimay coming

PSNews - Under the authority of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) leadership, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Son, Director of the Foreign Relations Department under the MPS, led a delegation on April 6 to visit the Embassy of Lao People's Democratic Republic (PDR) in Vietnam on the occasion of their traditional New Year festival (Bunpimay).

On behalf of the MPS, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Son extended New Year greetings to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Laos to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuan and his spouse as well as the staff of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam. 

He also congratulated the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the State and Lao people on their achievements over the past year, including the successful organization of the 11th Lao Party National Congress, the 9th Socio-economic Development Plan (in the 2021-2026 period) as well as the country’s success in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam always attaches much importance to the great friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Laos.  He highlighted the bilateral cooperation in ensuring security and order, preventing transnational crimes, and protecting human rights in each country as top priorities in the overall relations between the two countries. 

For his part, Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuan thanked the Vietnamese delegation for the visit and Bunpimay greetings. He also highlighted significant developments in the bilateral relationship over the past years.

Furthermore, the Ambassador affirmed that he and the staff of the Lao Embassy will try their best to promote the relations between the two country, especially the cooperation in the fields of national security, social order protection and crime prevention, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, and socio-economic development in both countries.
