Tram Tau is among the 56 poorest districts in Vietnam. Hmong ethnic people represents nearly 80% of the district’s population.

Thanks to the project initiated and funded by the Public Security Central Party Committee, the MPS leadership, as well as the support of the Provincial People's Committee of Yen Bai some 100 poor families in Tram Tau have had their new homes. The project has helped them stabilize their lives and contributed to the district’s economic development, sustainable poverty reduction, said Captain Giang A Chu, Deputy Chief of the Tram Tau District Police Station.

Giang A Chu, a guide and an “interpreter” for police officers, as many locals can only speak their languages, said,  “We can’t reach far-off villages in the rainy season. Rain also causes many troubles to lives of the local people. Poor local families only have wished through their lives to have a solid house to live in.

Mua A Di, a local man in Ban Mu commune, who is in his 60s, said, men in his village get married from their young ages. As the family extended, the small traditional house becomes too crowded. He and his family only wishes to have a new and bigger house.

Thanks to the project of the MPS, a new house is nearly completed for Di and his family.

Lieutenant Colonel Cu Thanh Binh, Chief of the Xa Ho Communal Police Post, said he and his comrades are mainly responsible for the implementation of the project in the commune. They re-check the living conditions of the beneficiary families, supervise the progress of construction and finance the construction of each home. They also coordinated with the Logistics Office under the Provincial Police Department to hand completed houses to the beneficiaries. Xa Ho is a rural commune, which is 7 km away from Tram Tau district’s center.

Giang Thi Dua, a widow who has lost her husband for years, has to raise her young children alone. So she faces numerous difficulties. In the past, she and her children had to live in a shanty house. When she received a new nice home from local police officers, she was so happy. The sudden happiness made her unable to sleep for some nights.

With the new homes from the project funded by the MPS, local people have favorable conditions to build a new better life.

The project of the MPS has benefited many poor families nationwide. Some beneficiaries in Tram Tau, who have never been out of their villages or unable to speak national language, tried their best to write letters to thank the MPS for the precious support that changed their life.
