General To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security chaired a videoconference on October 11 to review efforts and achievements of the Public Security Forces, particularly police forces in prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The videoconference provided a good chance for agencies and units of the Public Security Forces (PSF) to comprehensively evaluate their results in Covid prevention and control over the past time, especially during the 4th outbreak of the pandemic.

Lieutenant General To An Xo, Chief of the MPS Office, briefed the delegates on the results of the forces in prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in the past time.

According to the report, the PSF has clearly played an important role in preventing, combating the COVID-19 epidemic since the beginning of the year, especially in the 4th wave of infection.

The PSF has made an important contribution to controlling the pandemic nationwide, the Chief of the MPS Office underlined.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung briefed the delegates on the fourth meeting of the 13th Party Central Committee, as well as directions of the Prime Minister and the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on prevention and control of the pandemic in the coming time.

Next, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc reported on the crime situation and major approaches to ensure security and order, as well as the efforts of police forces working on the frontline of the fight against COVID-19.

To conclude the meeting, Minister To Lam said that the PSF had thoroughly grasped and seriously implemented the instructions of the Party General Secretary and the President, documents of the Politburo, the Secretariat, National Assembly, Government, Prime Minister, and the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on prevention and control of the pandemic.

He underlined that the PSF had performed its role as a leading force on the frontline of the fight against the pandemic while ensuring national security, social order and safety and happiness of the people.

During the 4th wave of the pandemic, the PSF deployed thousands of police officers and students of public security schools to the most pandemic-affected areas.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee, leaders of the MPS, Minister To Lam thanked relevant agencies, local authorities and people from all walks of life for their valuable support and close coordination with the PSF in the past time.

Officers with outstanding achievements honored at the event. 

He also acknowledged and praised the efforts of the PSF in prevention and control of the epidemic in recent times.

Minister To Lam also extended deep condolences to the families of officers who had died while performing their duties during the pandemic, and encouraged the officers injured in the fight against the pandemic.

The minister also requested the PSF to successfully fulfill 3 major objectives: COVID-19 prevention and control; ensuring security and public order; and creating a stable environment for socio-economic development.

At the conference, a number of units and individuals with outstanding achievements in prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic were honored.
