Minister Luong Tam Quang encourages forces participating in disaster relief

Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang sent a letter to encourage all police officers and enlistees and members of the force participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level working in disaster relief, search and rescue operations, on September 12th, 2024.

The content of the letter has been translated into English as follows:

Dear Comrades!

Several days ago, Super Typhoon No.3 landed in the Northern provinces and cities, causing great human and material losses.

In implementing directions of the Politburo, the General Secretary and President, the Government and the Prime Minister, the Public Security Forces have mobilized over 150,000 officers and enlistees, thousands of vehicles and equipment to help people respond to the natural disasters, carry out disaster relief, search and rescue operations, ensure security and order as well as traffic safety.

During the fight against the natural disasters, three police officers have heroically sacrificed their lives, while many others have been injured. In addition, some police officers have lost their family members or valuable assets.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, Minister Luong Tam Quang extended the deepest condolences to the families of fallen police officers and those losing their kin people in the natural disasters, and expressed empathy with the sufferings and losses of people and families of police officers in disaster-hit localities.

Minister Luong Tam Quang praised all police officers of the units participating in natural disaster relief, search and rescue operations for their effort, enthusiasm, dedication and self-sacrifice in protecting the people from natural disasters.

The Minister sincerely thanked the people for supporting police forces in carrying out search and rescue and disaster relief, one of their tasks entrusted by the Party, the State and the People.

In spite of continued floods, landslides, land subsidence and inundation in various Northern localities, Minister Luong Tam Quang believed that the whole Public Security Forces in coordination with the People’s Army and relevant forces will do their best to search for the missing, evacuate people to safe places, deliver food and necessities to those in need and take appropriate  measures to ensure safety of people in areas at risk of flash floods, landslides and dike breaks.

The Minister requested that police forces actively help people restore their normal lives, production and business, ensure security and order, control prices of necessities, deny theft and spreading of fake information about the natural disasters and disaster relief work in cyberspace.

In addition, the Minister asked police agencies and units to encourage and promptly implement policies for police officers and families of police officers suffering losses in the natural disasters, while further supporting affected families and people.

Minister Luong Tam Quang asked police units and agencies to ensure absolute safety for their forces participating in search and rescue, disaster relief operations, wishing them more achievements in preventing natural disasters, ensuring security and order, for the peace and happiness of the people.
