After the floods, the Provincial Party Committee and authorities of Son La mobilized more than 2,600 people, including police and army officers, youth union members to support local people in overcoming consequences of the flooding, moving people’s assets and stabilizing their lives.

On August 15th and 16th, a delegation of the Hanoi Traffic Police Office, led by Colonel Pham Van Hau, Vice Chief of the office, came to Muong La to conduct charitable activities in support of the flood victims.

Driving 300 kilometers in the rainy and windy weather, the delegation carried 1.5 tons of rice, 295 boxes of instant noodles, 100 double-size mosquitoes nets, 100 blankets, 100 pairs of sandals, 3,000 notebooks, a box of medicines and more than 50 million in cash to the victims of the recent flash floods in Muong La.

Colonel Pham Van Hau said that all the items and cash had been donated by officers and soldiers of the unit with the aim of easing the Muong La people’s difficulties and helping them stabilize their lives soon.

“This is a meaningful activity of the Municipal Traffic Police Office of Hanoi, in response to 70 years since President Ho Chi Minh sent the letter with his six teachings to the Public Security Forces and Uncle Ho announced his call for a nationwide patriotic emulation movement,” Colonel Hau added.

“Until we arrived here, we could not imagine the terrible destruction of the natural disaster as well as the losses of the local people. We cannot help tearing when witnessing the situation. We have also found that our support has been too small compared to what the local people have been suffering. After this visit, the unit’s Youth Union and Women's Union organizations will continue mobilizing to support the flood victims,” Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Trung Kien, Secretary of the unit’s Youth Union Chapter said.

The whole country is joining hands to support Muong La, however, the people here are still facing many difficulties. Muong La people need more supports to stabilize their lives and resume their business and production, and their children need to go back to school as the academic year is coming.
