Reporting at the conference, Director of the Can Tho Municipal Police Department Major General Nguyen Van Thuan said that, over the past year, the Can Tho Municipal Police Department had led local police units to closely follow and effectively implement directions of the Government and the Ministry of Public Security on crime prevention and combat.
Particularly, the local police cleared a high rate of criminal cases, including specially serious cases, which was recognized and praised by leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, as well as local Party committees, authorities and people.
In addition, the Can Tho Municipal Police Department actively advised the Can Tho Municipal People's Committee to implement Project 06 on enhancing the application of population, identification and electronic authentication data in digital transformation in the period of 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030.
Specially, the Can Tho Municipal Police Department had advised the local authorities on the establishment of 682 Working Groups at city, district and commune levels for the implementation of Project 06 while actively reviewing and updating local population data, ensuring that all the local population data is "correct, sufficient and alive," and issuing chip-based IDs to a high proportion of the local population.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang acknowledged and praised the work results and achievements that the local police had achieved over the past time.
The Deputy Minister noted that Can Tho city is known as the capital and an economic, political, cultural and social center of the South West so it has a particularly important position in terms of national defense and security as well as the development of the Mekong Delta.
In the coming time, Can Tho city will develop into a smart city so the local police should attach importance to ensuring security and order so as to create a peaceful and healthy environment for the city's socio-economic development.
Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang also asked the Party Committee and Directorate of the Can Tho Municipal Police Department to attach importance to Party building and force building as well as personnel work, regular and irregular inspection plans.
