E-visa duration extends to 90 days

The Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security held a press conference to announce the results of rolling out the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Vietnamese Citizens’ Entry and Exit and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam (Law No. 23/2023/QH15) and automated border control gate (Autogate), on the morning of August 30, in Hanoi.

The Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security held a press conference to announce the results of rolling out the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Vietnamese Citizens’ Entry and Exit and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam (Law No. 23/2023/QH15) and automated border control gate (Autogate), on the morning of August 30, in Hanoi.

Giving the related information to correspondents at the press conference, Director of the Immigration Department Major General Pham Dang Khoa said, Law No. 23/2023/QH15, which passed by the 15th National Assembly on June 24, 2023 at its 5th sitting and came in effect from August 15, 2023, has contributed to creating a legal basis for the involved sectors to enhance administrative reforms, decentralization, simplifying administrative procedures in the electronic environment, and providing favorable conditions for organizations, foreigners and people to enter, exit and reside in the country.

Under Law No. 23/2023/QH15, the e-visa duration extends from 30 days to no more than 90 days, and the  electronic visa can be used once or multiple times (under previous regulations electronic visas are valid once). 

The law also extends the temporary residence period from 15 days to 45 days for citizens from the countries that enjoy unilateral visa exemption by Vietnam, and allows foreigners to renew their visas to extend temporary residence in Vietnam according to other provisions of the Law...

Regarding the deployment of Autogate, by August 30, 2023, 750,000 cases have been eligible to use Autogate, and 30,000 Vietnamese citizens and foreigners exiting and entering the country have benefited from the deployement of Autogate. 

The Autogate system has offered time-saving and convenience to air passengers who exit and entry the country, and received positive feedbacks from agencies, organizations and individuals.
