Vietnam, Kazakhstan strengthen anti-corruption cooperation

Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang hosted a meeting with Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Zhumagali, on the morning of February 25th, in Hanoi.

Overview of the meeting.

Welcoming the Kazakhstani official to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Minister Luong Tam Quang said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan has continuously developed in various fields.

The host stated, the cooperation between the two countries’ security and law enforcement forces plays a crucial role in the Vietnam-Kazakhstan overall relationship, contributing to fostering political trust between the two nations and addressing common challenges amid complex security developments in the region and the world.

To further promote cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Anti-Corruption Agency as well as other law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that the two sides should enhance delegation exchanges at all levels to share hands-on experiences in combating crimes, particularly corruption-related offenses, as well as enhance consultation and information sharing regarding global and regional security issues of mutual concern.

Additionally, the host wished that the competent authorities of one country would promptly respond to extradition and transfer of sentenced persons requests from the other while closely coordinating efforts to arrest fugitives wanted by one country hiding in the other.

Minister Luong Tam Quang also stressed that the two sides should consider negotiating and signing cooperation agreements on crime prevention, which would serve as a legal framework for the two sides’ future bilateral law enforcement cooperation.

Finally, the Vietnamese official underscored that the two sides should create favorable conditions for one country’s citizens living, working and studying legally in the other country, constituting to socio-economic development of each country.

Sincerely thanking Minister Luong Tam Quang for the meeting, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan Askhat Zhumagali affirmed that Kazakhstan always attaches much importance to anti-corruption efforts.

The guest also expressed his interest in Vietnam’s anti-corruption campaign with Minister Luong Tam Quang’s active participation as the Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negative Phenomena.

The Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan hoped that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan would continue to expand cooperation activities, enhance exchanges and share experiences with each other, contributing to improving the effectiveness of anti-corruption efforts and creating a favorable environment for economic, cultural, and social development in each country.
