Northeast reputable individuals actively participate in the movement "All people protecting national security"

PSNews–The Ministry of Public Security on March 14th held the conference "Exchanging experience on promoting the role of reputable individuals among ethnic minorities in "All people protecting national security" movement in the period 2010-2016. Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Khao, Director of the Movement “All people protecting national security”Department reported the working results of police forces’promoting the role of reputable individuals among ethnic minorities in "All people protecting national security" movement period 2010-2016.

The Northeast and surrounding areas hold an important strategic position in economic, defense and security terms. The region includes 11 provinces with total areas of 63,842 km2. 5 out of 11 provinces have borders with China. There are 34 ethnic groups with a population of 9.9 million. Ethnic minorities account for about 43 %.

The Northeast currently has more than 6,000 reputable individuals in different ethnic minority communities, who are also in different ages but actively participate in various social fields.

Many reputable individuals from ethnic minorities are exemplary models in following Party's guidelines and policies,and State's laws. They serve as a "bridge" connecting the policy to people in remote areas; and as the police’s"extended arm" helping the police force to grasp the local situation, disseminate policies and mobilize people to raise vigilance against conspiracies and attempts of hostile forces to make use of ethnic issues to sabotage the Party and State.

At the conference, ethnic minority's reputable people have shared their experiences in mobilizing ethnic minority people to observe the law, preserve local culture, ensure local and national security. They also contributed may valuable ideas at the conference to improve the effectiveness of the work of ensuring social and order.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son highly appreciated the results and efforts of reputable people in the Northeast ethnic minority communities. The contributions of ethnic minority reputable people have created a solid security posture in the strategic area of national security and defense.Their contributions have showed their enthusiasm, responsibilities and self-consciousness in building and protecting their homeland and the country as a whole, which promoted  locals'awareness of the movement "All people protecting national security".

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son asked local police forces and authorities to actively advise the government on policies and laws in order to improve people's knowledge inappropriate methods and forms.

Authorities and police in the Northeast areas should regularly review and find new examples in the movement; train comprehensive knowledge for village elders and village heads so that they could understand the movement and disseminate the contents to others. Local police units and authorities should actively coordinate with others organizations and forces to offer good living conditions for, take good care of, and  encourage and protect reputable people of ethnic minorities.

The conference presented certificates of merit to 26 organizations and individuals, awarded 35 medals of "Protecting national security" and gifts to reputable individuals of ethnic minorities in Northeast areas in the movement "All people protecting national security."
