According to reports at the conference, the Traffic Police Force has deployed all forces and means to carry out plans to ensure traffic order and safety, and reduce traffic jams and accidents. The force has promptly investigated and handled traffic incidents as well as participated actively in rescue missions, contributing to minimizing losses caused by traffic accidents.

Recently, they also actively intensified drivers’ alcohol concentration, and use of drugs and stimulants on roads across the county.

Meanwhile, the police well improved performances of their functions of criminal judgment execution and judicial assistance. As a result, security and safety of detention centers were ensured while prisoners were better managed, supervised and re-educated, and they fully enjoyed State policies for prisoners. Additionally, the management, supervision and education of unimprisoned offenders were well conducted by local police units, contributing to reducing the number of repeat offenders.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son asked the Traffic Police Department to  give the higher-level authorities amendments and supplements to the regulations on traffic order and safety while coordinating closely with relevant agencies to amend the Road Traffic Law, propose the establishment of the Road Traffic Order and Safety Law, and draft documents to determine fines for traffic violations in line with the Decree No. 46 issued May 26, 2019 by the Government, which can be seen as a preparation step to implement the Law on Alcohol and Beer Control). They will have to ask the MPS and Government to punish more seriously those who abuse alcohol, drugs and stimulants
