MPS receives UNODC aid

PSNews – The Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) recently held a ceremony to receive an aid package of equipment and medical masks from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The aid package, funded by Japan, is part of the UNODC Global Program on Combating Transnational Crime and Terrorism, with the main purpose of helping member states to prevent terrorism, human trafficking and illegal migration while strengthening international cooperation in the field of transnational crime prevention and control.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the MPS units receiving UNODC aid, leaders of the Department of Foreign Relations extended great thanks to UNODC, the Government of Japan and the UNODC Office in Vietnam.

The Department also committed to distributing the aid package to target units of the MPS in accordance with the direction of the MPS’s leaders as well as the purpose of the aid package.

The Department of Foreign Relations highly appreciated UNODC's practical aid and cooperation activities, saying that they facilitated Vietnam’s efforts in fighting transnational crimes and its international cooperation in preventing and controlling crime of all kinds.

He stressed that such aid contributes to strengthening the Vietnamese Public Security Forces’ capabilities of fighting crime and Covid-19 as well as to deepening bilateral cooperation between the MPS and UN partners, especially UNODC.
