MPS planning to rearrange its press and media system

PSNews - The Department for Information and Communications under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on March 18 held a ceremony to announce a decision signed by the Minister of Public Security on the establishment of the Steering Committee and Drafting Team to draw up a project on the public security press and media.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended the event.

At the ceremony, Senior Colonel Pham Quang Khai, Deputy Director of the Department for Information and Communications announced Decision No. 1341/QD-BCA issued on March 4th 2019 by the Minister of Public Security on the establishment of the Steering Committee for crafting a project to rearrange the public security press and media.

Accordingly, the Steering Committee consists of 11 members, led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh. Major General Mai Van Ha, Director of the Department for Information and Communications is the Deputy Head of the Steering Committee. Major General Pham Van Mien, Editor-in-Chief of the Public Security (OK9 Cab) Newspaper is member of the Steering Committee.

The Steering Committee will advise the Central Party Committee of Public Security and leaders of MPS on the rearrangement and management of the public security press and media network, in line with the Party Central Committee’s Master-Plan on development of Vietnam’s press and media until 2025 and Decision No. 1431 issued on October 26th 2018 by the Prime Minister on development of the network of State-run non-profit units in the field of information and communications by 2021 with a vision toward 2030.

At the ceremony, the Department for Information and Communications also announce Decision No. 1342/QD-BCA issued on March 4th 2019 by the MPS on the establishment of the Project Drafting Group which consists of 12 members, led by Senior Colonel Pham Quang Khai, Deputy Director of the Department, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the OK9 Cab Newspaper. Senior Colonel Tran Kim Tham and Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Directors of the Department act as Deputy Heads of the Team.

The Project Drafting Group, under the direction of the Steering Committee, is responsible for drafting the project, collecting ideas and opinions on the project, and completing it.

At the meeting, delegates under the chair of Major General Mai Van Ha discussed a set of working regulations, missions for the Steering Committee and Project Drafting Group as well as specific assignments for each member.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh asked all members of the Steering Committee and Project Drafting Group to urgently collect and analyze information for the building of the project, seek expert opinions and refer to modern journalism models of other countries so as to draw up a project best suitable for the reality.
