MPS offers 3 billion VND to police forces and people in Quang Binh

A delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) led by Deputy Minister Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son visited Quang Binh province on November 16 to check disaster relief activities conducted by local police forces. During the working visit, he also praises outstanding police officers and soldiers participating in disaster relief.

Over the past two months, Quang Binh was among the provinces severely hit by 6 tropical storms, causing great human and material losses, according to Senior Colonel Nguyen Tien Nam, Director of the provincial police.

Reports showed that 23 people were killed and 200 others were injured due to the storms. Flood water also submerged many buildings and houses, including various police stations.

The provincial police deployed all forces and means to support people in preventing and fighting the natural disasters, evacuated some 20,000 local households to safe places, and rescued some 1,400 people in danger.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son applauded the efforts of the provincial police in natural disaster response over the past time, praised them for keeping guarding in dangerous areas and effectively supporting local Party organizations, authorities and people.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son, on behalf of the leadership of the MPS, presented VND 1.5 billion to the provincial police of Quang Binh, awarded certificates of merit to 2 teams and 5 officers with outstanding achievements. He also presented VND 1.5 billion to the Quang Binh provincial Fatherland Front Committee to support flood-hit people.
