MPS leader requests public security agencies to accelerate two key projects

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a videoconference on May 24 to review the implementation of the two key projects on national population database and chip-based ID card (e-ID card). Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, chaired the event.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc stressed that, as the deadline for the completion of the two projects set by the Government and the National Assembly is nearing while the workload remains huge, all public security agencies and units should speed up the realization of the projects.

According to reports at the conference, the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order has entered information of over 98 million citizens into the administrative database system of the MPS for provincial-level police departments to review, update and put the information onto the National Database on Population. As of May 15, the police forces have processed information of up to 1.8 million citizens per day on average.

At the conference, representatives from various provincial police departments discussed difficulties and problems faced by the local police forces in implementing the projects and sought measures to complete the set targets as scheduled.

Addressing the event, the MPS leader praised all the agencies and units under the MPS for their efforts and achievements over the past time.

Regarding their tasks in the time to come, Deputy Minister Ngoc asked the directors of provincial-level police departments to closely supervise and guide the implementation of the two key projects. He also asked the chains of command in the Public Security Forces to frequently check the progress of the projects.
