Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc attends the 91st INTERPOL General Assembly

PSNews - Deputy Minister, Member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Criminal Investigation Authority under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc led a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese MPS to attend the 91st INTERPOL General Assembly in Vienna, Austria from November 28 to December 1.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc led the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese MPS to attend the 91st INTERPOL General Assembly.

On the sidelines of the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc had separate meetings with INTERPOL President Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi and INTERPOL Secretary General Jurgen Stock.

At the meetings, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc congratulated on the 100-year anniversary of INTERPOL, saying that the organization under the leadership of President Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi and Secretary General Jurgen Stock will grow stronger in accordance with its founding principles.

The Deputy Minister also asked INTERPOL leaders to further support the Vietnamese MPS in various areas, such as sharing criminal information, ccoordinating in crime prevention and fight, and building capacity of officers from the Vietnamese MPS.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc, over the past 30 years, as a member of INTERPOL, the Vietnamese MPS in general and the Vietnamese police force in particular have been a responsible member, which has always  been willing to cooperate with other partners in the fight against transnational crime.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc also held bilateral meetings with the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior of Hungary, aiming to strengthen the existing partnership through the INTERPOL channel.

The General Assembly is INTERPOL's supreme governing body and comprises delegates appointed by the governments of our member countries. It meets once a year and takes all the major decisions affecting general policy, the resources needed for international cooperation, working methods, finances and programs of activities. These decisions are in the form of resolutions.

2023 marks the 100-year anniversary of the Organization, and this General Assembly is being hosted in Vienna, Austria – in recognition of the fact that this is the city where INTERPOL was created in 1923. Bringing together chiefs of police and senior officials from around the world, the event also rounds off a year of celebrations for our member countries, that have included taking the INTERPOL flag to landmark destinations such as the summit of Mount Everest. During the four-day conference that runs from 28 November to 1 December, senior police officials from around the world addressed current and emerging threats, including the significant growth of transnational organized crime.
