Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Dang Hong Duc sent a letter of commendation to the Son La Provincial Police Department, particularly its Fire and Rescue Police Division, for their effective assistance for local people in recent floods, on August 2, 2025.

The content of the letter has been translated into English as follows:

On August 1, 2025, heavy rains caused the Ma River to rise quickly and submerged several areas of Son La province.

Against this backdrop, the Son La Provincial Police Department promptly mobilized forces, including the Fire and Rescue Police, Traffic Police, Mobile Police, communal police as well as grassroots-level security support teams, along with specialized equipment and vehicles to assist residents in former Song Ma and Sop Cop districts.

Notably, the Fire and Rescue Police Division deployed nearly 100 officers and several rescue vehicles to Chieng Khuong, Song Ma, Chieng So and Muong Lam communes to conduct search and rescue operations in severely flooded areas along the Ma River.

While conducting search and rescue operations in flooded areas, the police discovered six people who had been stranded by the swift-flowing river.

The rescuers swam 300 meters across the strong currents, using ropes, buoys, and life jackets to reach and successfully rescue all six people after several hours of strenuous effort.

They also helped move household items from 25 households to safe places.

The local police’s courageous act reflects the highest sense of responsibility and dedication of the Public Security Forces to the Party, the State, and the people.

It also portrays the public security officer who with his bravery and self-sacrifice is always ready to support the people whenever they are in need.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership, Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc acknowledged and commended the Son La Provincial Police Department, particularly the Fire and Rescue Police Division, for their outstanding efforts in assisting local people in the recent floods.

The Deputy Minister requested that the Son La Provincial Police Department continue to uphold and further promote the spirit of “For the people, be ready to make sacrifice,” effectively providing assistance for people in responding to natural disasters, maintaining security and order, and safeguarding national security, contributing to the peace and happiness of the people.
