Leaders of departments under the Ministry of Public Security and provincial-level police departments talked to reporters of the Cong An Nhan Dan Newspaper (Public Security Newspaper) on the sidelines of the 77th National Public Security Conference.

Major General Pham Thi Lan Anh, Director of the Public Security Department of Health, said the public security health sector has tried their best to take good care of all public security officers and soldiers, ensure sufficient supply of medicines and equipment for public security agencies and units to prevent and fight COVID.

Additionally, the sector has well performed preventive medicine and implemented effective measures to prevent COVID-19 across the Public Security Forces, closely monitored suspects of COVID, detected and treated COVID-19 cases, contributing to minimizing the damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to the Public Security Forces.

By December 25, 2021, 100% of public officers and soldiers had been given 2 shots of COVID vaccines, including a dozens of them injected with the 3rd jab. Additionally, the public security health sector vaccinated retired officials and relatives of public security officers as well as detainees.

The department also advised the leadership of the ministry to deploy over 1,200 medical staff and thousands of cadres and students from public security schools to COVID-19-hit provinces and cities as well as to establish the Phuoc Loc field hospital with capacity of 300 beds in Nha Be district, HCM City, , and 19 concentrated quarantine facilities nationwide with the capacity of 4,450 beds.

Senior Colonel Le Ngoc Chau, Director of the Hai Duong provincial Police Department, said the province was the first locality to witness a large number of infection cases in industrial parks and clusters during the 3rd wave of the pandemic.

The provincial Police Department took various measures to fulfil the dual goals of preventing the pandemic while ensuring public order and security in the locality.

After the COVID-19 pandemic was under controlled in the province, the provincial police speeded up the issuance of e-ID cards to local people and reached the target 47 days before the deadline, becoming one of the provinces in the country to early finish the project to issue e-ID cards to local people.

The provincial police forces also successfully prevented and controlled crimes; as a result, the number of violations of social order reduced by 22.7% while 94.2% of the cases was successfully investigated.

For their outstanding achievements, the provincial Police Department was honored with the third-class Labor Medal and the second-class Fatherland Protection Order by the State President.

Speaking to reporters of the Public Security Newspaper, Major General Pham The Tung, Director of the Nghe An provincial Police Department, said the provincial police forces have drastically attacked drug-related crime, hi-tech crime and crime related to “black credit”. Their efforts in fighting crime have been praised by the Ministry of Public Security. The provincial Police Department was also honored with the “Excellent Emulation Flag” presented by the Prime Minister for 7 consecutive years.

The provincial police forces of Nghe An also played an important role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the province.

Senior Colonel Do Trieu Phong, Director of Kien Giang provincial Police Department, said given the complicated situation of the pandemic, the provincial police forces took various approaches to prevent and fight crime so the number of criminal cases in 2021 reduced by 9.21% compared with the previous year.

The provincial police chief also noted that the island city of Phu Quoc welcomed nearly 11,000 tourists in the first half of November after restrictions were eased.

A greater number of domestic and foreign tourist is expected to visit the island in January. The provincial police forces will follow the directions of the Ministry of Public Security, the provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee to actively implement all plans to ensure security for island to welcome more tourists in the new normal period.

Major General Le Van Hai, Director of the Department of Logistics, said in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the department ensured logistical supplies for public security forces in charge of preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in the southern region.

Units under the department voluntarily cooked and provided over 60,000 meals to and COVID patients and medical workers working on the frontline of the fight against the pandemic between August 31 to October 10.

They also offered some 1,500 coaches to transport over 4,000 officers and soldiers to various COVID hotspots.
