Central provinces’ police forces support local people in overcoming storm’s aftermath

The provincial polices of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh deployed a large number officers and soldiers to help people in localities hit by the recent tornado and floods overcome their difficulties.

In Ha Tinh, a tornado swept across Cuong Gian commune, Nghi Xuan district in less than 30 minutes on September 18 and blew off roofs of 75 houses in Bac Son village, and damaged much acreage of crops.

Over 200 officers and soldiers of the Provincial Police Department of Ha Tinh and the District Police Station of Nghi Xuan were deployed to help the local people.

In Quang Binh, Senior Colonel Nguyen Tien Nam, Director of the Provincial Police Department, led a working group to visit boat mooring areas, estuaries to check the situations. He directed the local police force in collaboration with the local authorities to help people overcome consequences of storm.

In the border district of Minh Hoa, all police officers and soldiers were deployed to join disaster relief activities. 5 rescue teams were sent to hard-hit areas to support local people. Canoes and cars were set standby for emergency cases.

The Deputy Director of the Quang Tri Provincial Police Department Senior Colonel Le Phuong Nam said that the provincial police leadership asked the communal police force to coordinate with local authorities and organizations and other forces to help storm-hit people overcome the consequences of the storm.

Colonel Hoang Van Trung, police chief of Dakrong district, Quang Tri, said that many officers and soldiers of the district police force in coordination with other forces are working hard to clear up the landslide on the Ho Chi Minh Highway. A couple in Ta Rut commune were swept away by the flood, and the wife is still missing.

The storm ripped off roof of 15 local houses, uprooted many trees and damaged roads and over 1,000 hectares of summer-autumn rice crops, according to a report by the provincial disaster management center.
