PSNews – Over the past time, the police officers and soldiers of the Dac Pring Border Post, Nam Giang District, Quang Nam Province have successfully performed the tasks of firmly protecting national sovereignty and security of the border and strengthening the fight against crimes, while joining hands with functional forces to ensure local security and order and support local people to develop their economies.

  • Police and border guard team up to fight drug-related crimes

According to Colonel Nguyen Van Tung, Head of the Dac Pring Border Post, his unit is in charge of managing and protecting the Vietnam – Laos border, with a length of 23.911 kilometers with 9 national border markers.

The unit is also in charge of managing the 2 mountainous communes in Nam Giang District of Dac Pre and Dac Pring. The roads in these areas are very difficult to access, while most of the population is ethnic minorities, such as Ve, Ta Rieng, Co Tu. The intellectual standard of the local people is still very low. Local residents rely mainly on agricultural production with limited production technology, therefore their life still face many difficulties.

In order to help local people to stabilize their lives and develop their economies, the Dac Pring Border Post has deployed its officers and soldiers to the locality to support people with practical activities, such as conducting a wet rice cultivation project in Petapooc residential area, opening classes to eliminate illiteracy for people, helping people harvest crops; or repairing and renovating houses for local residents.

At the same time, the unit also coordinated with the local authority to build several models such as “safe roads” or “voices of the village”, support 2 poor students with VND 500,000 each per month, and coordinate with the commune’s health stations to offer free health check-ups to local people.

Besides, the police officers and soldiers of the Dac Pring Border Post also collaborated with the drug and crime prevention forces of the Border Guard Command of Quang Nam Province to investigate and stamp out many criminal rings.

In 2018, the unit discovered, investigated and prosecuted 3 cases with 8 subjects of illegally storing and using drugs and transporting explosives; handled a suspect of illegally transporting petrol and oil through border areas; discovered 6 subjects violating border regulations and 2 subjects illegally transporting forestry products.

Since the beginning of 2019, the unit in collaboration with functional forces cracked down on an illegal drug trading and storing ring in border areas, arrested 3 suspects.

Colonel Nguyen Van Tung, Head of the Dac Pring Border Post affirmed that, in the coming time, the unit will focus on attacking criminal gangs, while denying the emergence of any hotspots of crimes, especially drug-related crime, in the border area.

At the same time, the unit will actively coordinate with functional forces to intensify patrols and checks along the borderline to prevent and fight drug-related crimes, promote information and legal education to raise local people’s awareness of crime prevention and fight.
