National Assembly considers lengthening Q&A session

PSNews – Many deputies have asked the National Assembly (NA) to increase the question-and-answer session time to 3-3.5 days so that they can have more time to discuss and clarify the issues in order to improve the quality of NA's activities.

The National Assembly’s General Secretary Nguyen Hanh Phuc made the remarks on December 19 while briefing the NA’s Standing Committee on the preparations for the third session, which is scheduled to work 22.5 days from May 22, 2017.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hanh Phuc, at the third session of the NA, deputies are expected to spend 14.5 days passing 13 bills, 1 draft resolution and discussing 8 other bills.

The NA will use 7 days to discuss the reports by the Government on the results of socio-economic development and State Budget situation in 2016; implementation of the Government plans for the first 6 months of 2017; to approve the State Budget settlement in 2015; and to review the implementation of regulations and policies on food safety in 2011-2016.

Along with this, at the 3rd session, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee will report the NA on opinions and recommendations collected from voters and the people while the NA’s Standing Committee will report the NA on the results of its supervision over relevant agencies and localities settling  the petitions and complaints submitted by voters to the 2nd NA session.

According to Nguyen Hanh Phuc, the NA Standing Committee will consider submitting draft Law on communal-level police force and revised Law on Corruption Prevention and Control, and the amendments and supplements to the Penal Code 100/2015/QH13 at the upcoming third session.

The NA’s Standing Committee also agreed to bring the proposal on the length of  the the Q&A session to the third NA session.
