The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee continued its fourth session on July 27, reviewing a draft law amending and supplementing provisions to nine military and defence laws to ensure consistency across Vietnam’s legal framework.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed that caring for martyrs' families, Heroic Mothers, and wounded and sick soldiers has always been regarded as a focal political task, reflecting the nation’s enduring tradition of gratitude towards those who contributed to national independence and reunification.
The chief legislator stressed the need to clearly identify target groups and tailor law education accordingly, while promoting community-based approaches and strengthening the role of grassroots cultural institutions.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man praised the increasingly close cooperation between the Supreme People’s Procuracy of Vietnam and the Attorney General’s Chambers of Malaysia in sharing professional experience, upholding justice and protecting citizens’ rights, saying such coordination has contributed to improving crime prevention and combating efforts, ensuring security and promoting socio-economic development in both countries.
The Standing Board approved the formation of the specialised research unit, describing it as a necessary step to implement the orientations of the Politburo and the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat while strengthening the NA Party Committee's research and advisory capacity.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s working trip to Italy and Türkiye achieved important and comprehensive results at both bilateral and multilateral levels. It not only highlighted a proactive and responsible Vietnamese National Assembly with active and practical contributions to the IPU, but also created new momentum to deepen relations with key partners, including in Europe and the Middle East.
The session is scheduled to last about 11 working days and will be held in two phases, from April 6 to 12 and from April 20 to 23, with April 24 and 25 reserved if needed.
