The Standing Office of the National Steering Committee on Combating Smuggling, Commercial Fraud and Counterfeit Goods in collaboration with the Anti-Counterfeiting Unit and SICPA company (Switzerland) held a workshop to propose information technology applications to fighting smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods on August 8, in Hanoi.

At the conference, a representative of SICPA company introduced 2 anti-counterfeiting solutions including: product identification (Petromark) and product traceability, which have been transferred by SICPA to governments of 17 countries around the world.

Accordingly, these solutions play a good role in improving efficiency in struggling against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

While Petromark will help manufacturers or authorities mark products so as to distinguish legal and illegal products, Sicpatrace will support manufacturers, authorities and consumers to track the origins of goods, distinguishing authentic and counterfeit goods thanks to electronic labels.

SICPA can also provide more than 30 levels of security and label identification by using its specialized printing ink, so that manufacturers, authorities and consumers will be able to check information via smartphones.

Chief of the Standing Office of National Steering Committee 389 Dam Thanh The stated that the government instructed National Steering Committee 389 to promote the fight against smuggling of petrol and oil, smuggling of counterfeit fertilizer, pesticide and cosmetics in the coming time.

"We have been studying solutions of SICPA. We will submit the Government for approval as soon as possible, to strengthen anti-smuggling service," said Mr. Dam Thanh The.
