Spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang expressed Vietnam’s regret over a German announcement on Trinh Xuan Thanh’s case on August 3 afternoon, in a regular press conference.

Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang also emphasized that: “According to an official announcement from the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Trinh Xuan Thanh gave himself up to police on July 31. Currently, Vietnamese involved agencies are investigating this case.”

Moreover, she added that Vietnam always treasures and desires to maintain and develop the strategic partnership with Germany.

As reported, the Public Security Ministry’s Investigation Police Agency completed the procedures to receive Trinh Xuan Thanh in accordance with the Vietnamese law.

On September 15, 2016, Trinh Xuan Thanh was prosecuted for intentionally violating state regulations on economic management that caused massive losses of approximately US$147 million at PVC. However, he ran away.

An international wanted notice was issued for Trinh Xuan Thanh in September 2016.
