Vietnam’s Party Chief receives high-ranking delegation of Laos

PSNews- Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his pleasure over the important achievements of each Party and country, as well as fruitful results of the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos over the past years, while the bilateral relations are enjoying profound and practical developments in all fields.

On the afternoon of July 18, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received a high-ranking delegation of Laos, led by Mr. Phankham Viphavanh, member of the Politburo, Permanent Secretary of the Party Secretariat, Deputy State President of Laos who is on a visit to Vietnam for the celebration of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos and 40 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

Mr. Phankham Viphavanh thanked the CPV General Secretary for his kind reception and sentiment to the Lao delegation, and extended sincere regards from the General Secretary, President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Mr. Phankham Viphavanh briefed the Vietnamese Party General Secretary on recent socio-economic development and Party building work in Laos. He also stressed that Laos will cooperate with Vietnam to preserve, cultivate and pass the special unity and traditional friendly relationship to future generations of the two peoples, and work closely with Vietnam to effectively implement the agreements between leaders of the two Parties and two countries.

Mr. Phankham Viphavanh congratulated the achievements that Vietnam has attained over the past time. He believed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will continue to obtain new greater achievements in its renewal process, and successfully implement the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress.

Mr. Phankham Viphavanh also thanked Vietnam for its great support and assistance to Laos over the past years.

For his part, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong praised the achievements that Laos has reached in recent years, especially after more than a year implementing the Resolution of the 10

th Lao People's Revolutionary Party. He affirmed that Vietnam strongly and comprehensively supports Laos' reform process and believed that under the leadership of Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Lao people will continue to obtain new greater achievements.

The host proposed that the two sides proactively implement the agreements between the two Parties’ and the two countries' leaders. In doing so, the two sides should tighten and deepen political relations; closely cooperate in national defense and security and foreign affairs; promote and improve the quality of economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technical cooperation; and lead cooperation among ministries, sectors and localities to practical outcomes.

He also considered that both sides coordinate so as to organize well activities of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity Year; promote information dissemination among Vietnamese and Lao people from all walks of life, especially the young generation of the two countries, while spreading the Vietnam-Laos traditional loyal and trustworthy friendship in the world so that international friends could have a deeper understanding of the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The Vietnamese Party General Secretary also cordially sent his greetings to Laos’ General Secretary, State President Bounnhang Vorachith and other senior Party leaders of Laos.
