At a ceremony held by the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sihanoukville city in Cambodia’s Preah Sihanouk province on September 2 night, the province’s Governor Kouch Chamroen thanked the Party, State, Government, army and people of Vietnam for helping the Cambodian people escape from the genocidal regime in the past as well as their support for Cambodia’s national construction, restoration and development at present.

Expressing his delight at achievements in cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, the official said Preah Sihanouk and its adjacent provinces have set up close collaboration with Vietnamese localities, attracting many Vietnamese investors.

Vietnamese Consul General Vu Ngoc Ly spoke highly of Cambodia’s development, and Vietnam-Cambodia relations.

He said the remarkable progress in relations between Vietnamese and Cambodian localities has contributed to the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation between the two countries.

Ly called local authorities of Preah Sihanouk and neighbouring provinces to continue cooperation with the Consulate General in consolidating and developing the bilateral ties.

On September 1, representatives of the Consulate General and Vietnamese Community in Preah Sihanouk paid tribute to martyrs, who sacrificed their lives while performing international tasks in Cambodia, at the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument in Preah Sihanouk.

Meanwhile, nearly 500 guests, including ministers and high-ranking officials of Algeria, were invited to a similar event held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Algiers on September 2.

In his remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Quoc Tru highlighted the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Algeria and their close cooperation across spheres.

On this occasion, Tru and Algerian ministers presented the “For the cause of culture, sports and tourism” insignias and certificates of merit to 14 Algerians in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the teaching and practice of Vietnam’s traditional martial arts in Algeria and some African countries over the past time.

Certificates of merit were also granted to three other individuals from the liaison board for the Vietnamese community in Algeria, who have significantly contributed to the community work in the host country.

On August 27, the Vietnamese Embassy in conjunction with the Algeria Ministry of Culture held a photo exhibition and film screening on Vietnam.

Vietnam’s 74th National Day was also celebrated in Tanzania and Hong Kong (China).

Cuba’s newspapers on September 2 published congratulatory messages sent by senior leaders of the Cuban Party and State to their Vietnamese counterparts on the occasion of Vietnam’s 74th National Day.

In his message to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Raul Castro emphasized his belief that Vietnam and Cuba will tighten their fraternity and cooperation.

President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel reiterated his willingness to enhance the fraternity, solidarity and cooperation between the two peoples, Parties and Governments.
