Vietnamese military contingent achieves set goals at Army Games 2020

PSNews - The International Army Games 2020 (Army Games 2020) ended after two weeks of competition with the closing ceremony of the Army Games 2020, held at Patriot Park in the outskirts of Moscow, Russia on September 5 (local time).

The Vietnam People’s Army contingent taking part in this year’s event has accomplished their assigned tasks with remarkable results. Notably, the Vietnamese tank team clinched the Gold Medal in Division 2 of the “Tank Biathlon” competition of the Army Games 2020.

This means the Vietnamese tank team has advanced to Division 1 of the “Tank Biathlon” event next year and will compete with strong teams such as Russia, China, and Belarus.

In addition, the engineering and the search and rescue teams secured Bronze Medals. Impressively, the Vietnamese signal team won a Bronze Medal in the “Confident Reception” competition as a first-time participant in the Army Games.

The Vietnamese sniper team ranked fourth among seven participating teams of the “Sniper Frontier” competition. They clinched the Silver Medal in Stage 3 and the Bronze Medal in Stage 4 of the competition.

The website of the Russian Ministry of Defense Mil.ru highlighted the performance of Vietnamese snipers in the “Hunting” exercise, which was held at night. The Vietnamese team was the only team that destroyed all of the targets, scoring the most points in the exercise.

Other forces such as the field kitchen team, the chemical team, the military medicine team, the artillery team, and so on, also finished with encouraging results.

In an interview given to Tvzvezda Television, Lieutenant General Mikhail Matveyevsky, Chief of the Missile and Artillery Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, highlighted the Vietnam People’s Army’s sending of its artillery force to compete in Army Games for the first time.

Meanwhile, reporters of the Red Star Newspaper of the Russian Armed Forces were impressed by the Vietnamese cuisine after watching the performance of the Field Kitchen Team of the Vietnam People’s Army. “Made in Vietnam” dishes, such as spring rolls, "Banh Chung" (square glutinous rice cake), “Banh troi” (Floating rice cake), and OK9 Cabies attracted international friends.

Apart from the competitions, the Vietnamese military contingent also promoted the images of the Vietnamese people and country to international friends through artistic exchange programs. Their art performances at the Army Games 2020 contributed to enhancing cooperation and mutual understanding among the militaries of the participating countries.

Russian Chief Judge Lev Leshchenko highly evaluated the performance of the Art Troupe of the Vietnam People’s Army at the Army Games 2020, while the Red Star Newspaper gave compliments to singer Trinh Phuong who once studied at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. His performance has become the highlight of the singing competition.

Competing in events of the Army Games 2020, the Vietnamese teams have been confident and determined, showed a high-level of coordination, and actively contributed to popularizing Vietnam, its people, and the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers to international friends.
