Vietnamese leaders convey condolences over bombing series in Sri Lanka

Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong on April 21 sent his condolences to Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena over the series of deadly bombings in the country on April 21, which claimed large numbers of innocent lives.

The same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc conveyed his sympathies to his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan also cabled a message of condolences to Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka Karu Jayasuriya.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh sent his condolences to Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs Tilak Janak Marapana.

Several churches and hotels in Sri Lanka’s capital Columbus were hit by bombings on April 21. The fatalities have reached 228, while the number of injured victims was reported at 469, according to international media.
