Vietnamese, Indian naval forces asked to foster cooperation in shipbuilding

Sen. Lieut. Gen. Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, has suggested that Vietnam’s and India’s naval forces should focus on seeking cooperation possibilities in shipbuilding, ship repair and maintenance.

He made the proposal while hosting the visiting Vice Admiral Gurtej Singh Pabby, Chief of Materiel of the Indian Navy in Hanoi on July 23.

Highlighting the traditional friendship between Vietnam and India, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Minh stated that the Government and people of Vietnam are always grateful for the support of the Government and people of India during the struggle for independence and reunification in the past, as well as its current national construction and defence.

He showed his delight at the cooperation outcomes across all fields between the two countries over the past years, including the growth of bilateral defence ties.

He pledged that the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army always creates optimal conditions for the naval forces of Vietnam and India to promote collaboration.

For his part, Vice Admiral Gurtej Singh Pabby expressed his pleasure at the sound development in the partnership between the two naval forces over the past years.

He said that he hopes the affiliation will become stronger and more effective.

The Indian navy is willing to share experiences and cooperate with the Vietnamese naval in all fields, he stated.
