PSNews - Vietnam will host the fourth Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in Hanoi from April 14-17, marking its biggest multilateral event on green growth during 2021-2016, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu told an international press conference in Hanoi.

Vu said the summit, themed “Sustainable and People-Centered Green Transition”, underscores Vietnam’s push to meet climate commitments, slash emissions, and shift its growth model with global support. It reflects the country’s role, responsibility, contribution to P4G and the global efforts for green growth and sustainable development globally.

According to him, the event offers a platform for delegates to share their relevant vision, experiences, policies, and a unified call to action on global challenges. It fosters extensive international cooperation, not only within the framework of P4G members but also between P4G members and other countries and international organizations with shared goals of green growth and climate change response, he said.

Its key features include an exhibition on green growth, a high-level discussion on the theme, a business dialogue, and five ministerial-level sessions focusing on resource mobilization, food system transformation, innovative solutions, workforce training, and efficient and sustainable energy transition.

The summit will culminate in the adoption of key outcome documents, including the Hanoi Declaration and the P4G Declaration on strengthening cooperation with multilateral organizations and mechanisms in green transition and sustainable development. It will bring together an estimated 800 -1,000 delegates, including leaders from P4G member countries, guest nations, international organisations, and influential corporations and investment funds focused on green growth and sustainable development.

Responding to a reporter’s question, Vu explained that Denmark initiated P4G in 2017 to align policies, foster public-private partnerships, and link governments, businesses, and organizations for green growth and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Alongside Denmark and Vietnam, members include the Republic of Korea (RoK), Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, the Netherlands, Indonesia, and South Africa, with partners - the World Resources Institute (WRI), the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the C40 Cities network, the World Economic Forum (WEF), and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

With success in fulfilling the Millennium Development Goals, now the SDGs, Vietnam continues to perform its role as an active and responsible member of the international community and remains committed to achieving the common goals of humanity, especially sustainable development and green growth, Vu affirmed.
