Vietnam sends seven more military officers to UN peacekeeping missions

PSNews - The Ministry of Defence held a ceremony on June 28 to present the State President’s decisions and assign its seven officers to the United Nations peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and the Central African Republic.

The officers, who are set to depart in late June and early July, include Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Trung Kien, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Lien, Lieutenant Colonel Luong Truong Vinh, Major Nguyen Duc Thang, Major Trinh Van Cuong, Captain Le Hong Quan, and Captain Tran Thanh Son. They will take different positions such as staff officer, operations officer, training officer, intelligence officer, logistics officer, and military observer at the UN peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and the Central African Republic.

Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of Defence and Head of the Ministry of Defence’s Steering Committee for Vietnam’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations, encouraged the officers to overcome difficulties and successfully perform all assigned tasks, and uphold the national traditions and promote the image of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” to international friends while doing their jobs in the multilateral environment.
