Meeting with ADB Country Director for Vietnam Andrew Jeffries, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue suggests that the ADB provide Vietnam with policy advice on post pandemic economic recovery.

Meeting with ADB Country Director for Vietnam Andrew Jeffries in Hanoi on December 5, Hue proposed that the ADB provide continued capital support for investment projects and especially offer policy advice on sustainable development.

Vietnam needs to further improve its forecasting capacity in order to respond to crisis more accurately and in a timely manner and come up with appropriate policies, said Hue.

The top legislator highly appreciated the ADB’s recommendation that Vietnam should introduce a big relief package to support economic recovery, and stressed that international cooperation plays an important role in pooling resources for economic recovery.

For his part, Jeffries shared the ADB’s mission in Vietnam over the years, including supporting scientific research and providing loans and policy advice, and assured that the ADB will continue to cooperate with, support and contribute to the development of Vietnam.

Jeffries was invited to the Vietnam national economic forum which was held in Hanoi on December 5 to seek solutions to economic recovery in the post pandemic period. While attending the forum, the ADB Country Director presented a report on recovery and sustainable development.
