Vietnam reports 219 more COVID-19 cases, 72 recoveries

A total of 219 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), including 8 imported infections were confirmed positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on June 10, with 61 being recorded over the past six hours to 6 p.m , according to details given by the Ministry of Health.
  • COVID-19: 283 new locally transmitted cases logged in Vietnam
  • COVID-19: 64 new cases confirmed in Vietnam over 12 hours

Of the total figure, 211 were domestically found in Bac Giang (98), Ho Chi Minh City (61), Bac Ninh (38), Ha Tinh (5), Hanoi (4), Tien Giang (2), and one each in Lang Son , Hai Duong, and Long An, of which, 188 were confirmed in isolation or lockdown areas.

The majority of the new cases in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh are closely linked with outbreaks in the provinces' industrial parks, quarantine areas, and other places currently in lockdown.

The new cases in Ho Chi Minh are associated with the Revival Ekklesia Mission and identified as F1 contacts, while those in other localities came into contact with infected patients.

Following the latest cases, the nation has now recorded 8,165 local infections and 1,619 imported ones.

As many as 6,959 locally-transmitted cases have been detected in the latest COVID-19 wave that hit the nation more than one month ago.

The same day saw a further 72 patients declared free from the virus, thereby boosting the total number of recoveries to 3,708.

Among the hardest-hit localities, Hanoi is still at high risk of infection. Therefore the municipal Department of Health has devised a plan to receive and distribute COVID-19 vaccines among priority groups in the capital.

The move will see Hanoi will use 91,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine delivered by the Ministry of Health to inject four priority groups, with the inoculation drive set to run from until July.
