Vietnam places importance on developing ties with Japan

Vietnam pursues its consistent policy of respecting the development of relations with Japan as leading important partner, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

At a reception for the newly accredited Japanese Ambassador Kunio Umeda in Hanoi on November 11, PM Phuc said that Vietnam supports Japan's respective role in the world for peace, stability, cooperation and development. 

He asked for Japan's investment in Vietnam's green energy and high-tech projects, while encouraging more ODA funds for Vietnam. 

The new Ambassador, in turn pledged his best efforts to promote the deep strategic partnership in all areas, especially economics, security, defense and cross-cultural exchanges. 

"Vietnam is an important priority in Japan's all-around cooperation promotion policy and Japanese firms are very interested in Vietnam," he told his host.

Relevant agencies of both nations are joining hands to prepare for the Vietnam visit by Japanese Emperor and Empress, and speed up the implementation of key cooperation projects, he added.

He said he wishes to receive more support from the Vietnamese PM and agencies to fulfill his tasks during the term in Vietnam, helping further solidify the special friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
