The new Endeavour Leadership Program (ELP) is the Australian Government’s internationally competitive, merit-based two-way mobility program providing scholarships for short and long-term study, research and professional development with Australia’s priority partner countries.

A new tiered country system has been introduced to support streamlined and targeted funding, under which, Vietnam is one of the highest priority partner countries. Not only does this demonstrate the strong, established bilateral educational partnership between Australia and Vietnam but it also positions Vietnam as a destination of strategic significance to Australia.

Vietnamese students, researchers and professionals are encouraged to apply for these scholarships to undertake postgraduate study, research, vocational education and training and professional development in Australia.

Applications for the 2019 Endeavour Leadership Program are open until 15 November 2018 at 11.59 am AEST. Applications are online, open to all fields of study and there is no age limit for applicants. Further information is available at https://internationaleducation.gov.au/Endeavour.

The new ELP brings together the two previous Endeavour sub-programs – Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships (available to individual applicants), and Endeavour Mobility Grants (available to applicant institutions) into one program.

The Australian Government will provide $119 million to the ELP over the next four years, presenting to Endeavour Leaders opportunities to study or conduct research at leading institutions in Australia and internationally.

Vietnam has a strong record in competing for Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships. Since 2007, 445 Vietnamese citizens have been successful in gaining an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship.  Last year alone, 43 Vietnamese received these prestigious awards, including 13 PhD scholarships, the highest number of any eligible country.  Since 2007, 37 Australian students have come to Vietnam under an Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship.

The ELP will see targeting of Endeavour to ensure overseas study, training and research opportunities for Australia’s and Vietnam’s highest-performing students, researchers and professionals are sustainable into the future and aligned with the Australian government’s strategic priorities. The ELP also supports strong institution-to-institution, country-to-country and government-to-government relationships with countries around the world.
