FIFA on November 29 released their rankings. And Vietnam ranks 100th, up two notches compared to the chart of last month thanks to its outstanding results at the ongoing AFF Suzuki Cup 2018.

Two years ago, the Asian Football Confederation recognized the AFF Suzuki Cup as an official football league in the region. As a result, FIFA has taken into account results of this league while ranking football squads in the region.

As Vietnam has secured the 100th position, coach Park Hang-seo has completed part of his words he announced at the signing ceremony to lead the Vietnam football team in November 2017. At that time, one of the targets the coach from the Republic of Korea had set was to get Vietnam into the top 100 in FIFA world rankings when his contract ends.

However, this is not the highest position Vietnam has taken at the FIFA rankings. In June 2011, Vietnam reached the 99th, and in September 1998, it ranked 84th.

According to football experts, the rating of the Vietnam national football team in 2018 will be higher if coach Park Hang-seo and his players perform well in the remaining matches of the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup.

In Southeast Asia, Vietnam keeps the best place, and it is followed by the Philippines, who will face Vietnam in the semifinal at the 114th place, Thailand at the 118th, Myanmar at 139th, Indonesia at the 160th, Singapore at 165th, and Malaysia at 167th in the FIFA rankings table.
